3. Local Business Spotlight
Tucked away inside the Curraghchase Garden Centre, just a short drive past the national forest park, The Potting Shed Café has become a beloved retreat for those seeking a fresh, locally sourced meal surrounded by beautiful foliage. Their kitchen operates with a "farm-to-table" ethos, prioritizing high-quality ingredients to craft a menu that balances comfort with creativity. Open Tuesday through Sunday, as well as bank holidays, from 09:30 AM to 5:00 PM, it is an ideal destination for a post-hike breakfast or a quiet lunch in a rustic, natural setting.
What keeps locals returning is a commitment to variety, with a menu that changes weekly to showcase new seasonal flavors. You might find yourself choosing between a hearty goats cheese and bacon French toast for breakfast, or one of their signature lunch specials like the pulled pork and beetroot wrap or a zesty Cajun chicken cheesy baked potato. From nutrient-dense salads to indulgent homemade desserts, the café offers a diverse range of options that reflect the independent and vibrant spirit of Limerick’s food scene. 6. One Thing Worth Knowing
St. Patrick's Parade Registration Local groups, clubs, and businesses have one final window to join the "Legends of Limerick" parade on March 17. Don't miss your chance to be part of the centerpiece event.
7. From the Editor
There is something profoundly "Limerick" about the story of The Street Bar in Kilteely that has captured my attention this week. In an era where we often hear about the decline of the rural Irish pub, the residents of Kilteely decided to rewrite the script.
Last August, a syndicate of 26 locals stepped in to save the former Ahern’s pub from permanent closure, pooling €300,000 to buy it and run it as a community-owned social enterprise. It’s not just a place for a pint anymore; with the addition of Tom’s Butchers inside the premises this past January, it has become a true multi-purpose hub for the village.

The Street Bar Kilteely featured in the Dublin International Film Festival
The beauty of this "pub that refused to die" is that it’s no longer just a local secret. A short film documenting their journey, commissioned by Heineken, just premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival. Seeing a small East Limerick village represented on such a prestigious stage is a testament to what happens when a community refuses to let its heart stop beating.
